Marlana Staats
About this Service
My name is Marlana. I am originally from a small town in Ohio. I have lived in the Washington D.C. area and currently call Florida home. I decided a long time ago that I wanted to help people. In my early 20’s I decided that the best way for me to help others was through mental health therapy. I have a B.S. in Counseling/Psychology and a Masters degree in Social Work. I have personally experienced, trauma, sadness and disappointment in my life. I understand what it’s like to be “on the other side of the couch.” I feel that in order to help others we must first help ourselves. I am a compassionate, determined and dedicated individual. I have found strength in myself and support through others that I did not know existed when I was younger. In addition, I believe that humor and laughter can be healing. I have previously worked for a non-profit and recently opened a private practice with two partners.
I believe that therapy is not one size fits all. I have been trained, as well as certified and experienced in CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, Solution Focus, Strength Based, Motivational Interviewing, etc. My style of therapy is integrative. I try to tailor therapy to each client individually. I have primarily focused on therapy but have experience with case management, as sometimes the mental health system can be complicated. I am currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. I feel that therapy should focus on the client and be transparent. I will always do whatever I can to best help my clients.
