Chrissie Chua- Ly Van Manh
About this Service
Hi! My name is Chrissie and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Starting therapy is intimidating and I commend you for seeking help. I believe everyone can benefit from therapy. No problem is too small or too complex to work on. My past clients describe me as non-judgmental, warm, flexible, and extremely patient. Developing a safe and open therapeutic relationship is essential. I focus on collaborating with you the entire journey and I always meet you where you are. I focus on making you feel heard, understood and validated. When you are ready, I will gently challenge you and simultaneously support you so you can make the progress and goals that you have always wanted to make. Using a strength based approach, we will identify and implement skills that can make your life a little easier to handle.
Trauma can be difficult to unwrap but I have been working with a population who struggles from Complex Trauma for the past 4 years. In my work with this population, I have developed the tough mentality and skills to help individuals and their families suffering from a wide range of mental health diagnoses (from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Persistent Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, PTSD, Conduct Disorder, etc.). Intergenerational trauma is prevalent and with your consent, we can explore and uncover the relational dynamics you may be struggling with.
I live in New York City for the past 10 years. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education/ Special Education (from birth to grade 6) with a minor in Psychology and I have a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from New York University. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), I work with a wide range of clients. My experience includes working with individuals with a mental illness, or co-occurring disorder. My expertise includes Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Trauma, Anger, Oppositional Defiance, ADHD (attention/focus issues), family conflicts, motivational issues, career/future uncertainty, and relationship and individual problems.
During my free time, I love spending time with my friends and family. I love to de-stress by boxing, spinning, or doing any type of workouts. I love trying out new recipes and cooking for my loved ones.
