About Our Directory

Psychologists with just the right mix of skills and experience are only a few taps away with the help of the most accessible and easy-to-use directory of licensed and credentialed mental health professionals.

Why Use PsychTap.com to Find a Psychologist?

Our aim is to help make your choices easier to research than any of the ‘fill in a form’ directories that require you to specify in advance exactly what criteria you are looking for and then hand you what is often a randomized list of results. If you already know in advance precisely what sort of psychologist you’d like to work with, and if you don’t mind being handed the equivalent of a shuffled stack of business cards, then you’ll probably find other directories work just fine. However, if you’d like the opportunity to gradually narrow down your choices, if you want randomization only as an option, and if you’d rather be offered structured information to make up your own mind about whom to work with, then we think PsychTap.com will be the place for you. We also think it will be the place for you if you’re looking for a site that follows the law about ensuring accessibility and not discriminating against web users with visual impairments, limited keyboard access, or other access difficulties. (See WebAIM for or an introduction to US law regarding the accessibility of websites.)

Who Are the Psychologists Listed on this Site?

Listing on PsychTap.com is open only to licensed psychologists with a doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA/CPA Accredited Program or an ASPPB/National Register Designated Doctoral Program in Psychology and who meet the criteria for the National Register Health Service Provider in Psychology credential; or who are certified in one or more areas by the American Board of Professional Psychology or by the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology.

Where Our Information Comes From

All information listed at PsychTap.com is either identified and indexed from other publicly available sources which we believe to be authoritative, such as licensing or credentialing bodies — somewhat like Google does when setting out to index the entire web — or provided to us directly through our self-registration system for licensed psychologists. In the latter case, stated qualifications are independently corroborated via reference to the same type of authoritative entities.

This means that all information contained within this directory has been supplied either directly by an individual self-registering on the site as a licensed professional or by one or more other sources which we believe to be authoritative and which have separately published the information in a publicly accessible, transparent, and independently verifiable fashion. However, we have not independently investigated and verified the authenticity of all information contained within the directory, such as the individual indications of expertise, specialization, or theoretical approach or methodology attributed to individual practitioners. We strongly recommend that you do independently verify information provided here before making contact with any listed mental health professional.
